ELECTRONIC VIGNETTE, REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA |
On 1 December 2021, the Republic of Slovenia launched the system of electronic vignettes, which after 13 years replaced traditional motorway stickers.
The obligation to pay for an electronic vignette before using motorways and expressways in Slovenia applies to motor vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons, regardless of the maximum permissible weight of the trailer.
At present, there is a toll network of motorways and expressways with a total length of 618 kilometres. In the Republic of Slovenia, electronic vignettes are divided according to toll categories, in which electronic vignettes with different periods of validity are available.
In the initial phase SkyToll built a complete IT infrastructure, delivered and integrated a state-of-the-art software solution consisting of a central system and an electronic vignette sales system, providing comprehensive customer service processes, central electronic vignette data management processes and related support processes. The system also included the development of a payment enforcement system based on automatic optical recognition of vehicle license plate numbers, integration of data between various records/registers and quick and easy resolution of detected discrepancies in the collection or payment of toll road charges. The enforcement of toll road charges is secured through portable monitoring devices, hand-held monitoring devices, mobile vehicle monitoring devices and stationary monitoring devices.
SkyToll designed, built and commissioned a functional electronic vignette system in the Republic of Slovenia in just 188 days.
One of the benefits of the vignette system digitisation for the government includes new features of the enforcement system, the elimination of the possibility of using counterfeits and, of course, increased user comfort.
