SLOVENIA WILL ALSO USE A TOP SOLUTION VERIFIED IN SLOVAKIA AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC. SKYTOLL AND DARS HAVE SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF AN ELECTRONIC VIGNETTE SYSTEM.

Bratislava, 31 May 2021 – On 27 May, the Slovenian motorway company DARS and SkyToll signed a Contract for the development and operation of an electronic vignette system. The signing of the contract definitively completed the tender procedure in which DARS awarded the task to SkyToll on 29 January 2021. The correctness of the procedure was subsequently confirmed by the Slovenian National Review Commission (DKOM) on 10 May 2021. SkyToll succeded in the tender with a bid in the amount of EUR 15.7 mil. (excl. VAT) for the development of a system for the payment of electronic vignettes and its five-year technological support.

Thanks to the solution that has been tested in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, Slovenia will receive a technologically innovative and cost-efficient system for the payment of electronic vignettes and its enforcement. After the Czech Republic, Slovenia is another country which, when selecting a new road network charging system, decided on a solution with top parameters, which has provided comfortable payments for motorists in Slovakia for several years already. „Our success in Slovenia confirms our conviction that further use of the existing electronic toll payment system, using the same technical solution for vehicles over 3.5 tons, which is still the world’s top after all the innovations made, is the best option for Slovakia as well,“ said Matej Okáli, the CEO and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SkyToll.

The new electronic vignette system will also mean a more cost-efficient and user-friendly way for Slovenia to pay for using motorways compared to the existing motorway stickers. „The time frame for building the system is precisely defined in the contract. I am convinced that SkyToll will build a system in Slovenia with which the motorists using Slovenian motorways will certainly be satisfied,” said Matej Okáli.
